An Abstract: Spatial Migration Modelling: A Framework

Understanding of spatial trends and distribution of migration in urban areas is a crucial for the purpose of urban planning decision making. This is because of high volume of migration without an adequate planning and supports tends to escalate crucial problems of urban such as squatter settlements, slum areas, traffic congestions, urban poor, urban sprawl, etc. Hence, this paper is an attempt to show the application of Migration Potential Model (MGP model) for spatial modelling distribution of migration potential in urban areas. For this purpose, Klang Valley region is selected for being the area of study. From result shows that, in future, spatial focusing potential migrants within the districts and spatial planning units (SPUs) of the Klang Valley are in direction to balance. Overall, this paper concludes that, the MGP model is very significant to be applied for urban planning requirement.
